Arbolago, a gated community just north of Lakeway, is located at the intersection of FM 620 and Stewart Road. The City of Bee Cave was named for the colonies of Mexican honeybees that lived along Barton Creek and Little Barton Creek.  In the 1980's the City of Austin attempted numerous ETJ annexations.  To thwart annexation by Austin, the Village of Bee Cave was incorporated in 1987. The Village had a two-square-mile area with 8,800 acres of extraterritorial jurisdiction. The 1990 population was approximately 214 people.
